Outreach Ministry

25 volunteers from St. Pius X Parish provide help and service in several different ways. On the first Saturday of the month, 5 volunteers man the kitchen of New Horizons and serve the meals. On the fourth Thursday of the month a group of volunteers help distribute food to those with a limited income. On Wednesdays and Thursdays we provide a drive to pick up food needed at New Horizons.

Mary, Gate of Heaven Orphanage was founded by Sr. Claire Daneau of Manchester 27 years ago. It continues to be administrated by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. The population fluctuates but is usually between 60-70 children. In addition to the orphanage, the Sisters run the School of Mary Immaculate, which is on the orphanage property. The school was created for the orphans but now provides for the entire village which is nearby. 500 children attend this school. The orphanage provides a home, food, clothing, education, and faith formation for the children in their care. The ages range from infant to age16.
