The St. Pius X athletic program offers basketball programs. Boys and girls registered with St. Pius X are highly encouraged to attend religious education classes. We do not have tryouts and we field teams based on the number of registered parishioners that sign up at our registration day in late September.
St. Pius X participates in the Amoskeag Deanery (Manchester) CYO basketball league for boys ages 8-18 and girls ages 8-15. The 3&4 grade program is co-ed and instructional; games are played on Saturdays starting in December. The 5&6 grade and 7&8 grade boys’ games are played in Manchester each Saturday beginning in November. The 5&6 grade and 7&8 grade girls’ games are played in Nashua on Saturdays and/or Sundays. There is also a boys’ high school basketball program in Manchester. Their games are played on Sundays beginning in December. All teams’ regular season games end in mid-February. Playoff games determine which teams will earn a bid to the NH CYO state basketball tournaments. The state championship winner can earn an opportunity to represent the state of New Hampshire in the annual New England CYO basketball tournament.
All CYO participants are required to complete a CYO League registration form which is available online at nhcyo.com. Select “forms and rosters” on the webpage and then choose “Player participation form”. Upon completion, this form can be printed and mailed with payment to the parish office Attn: Dawna. Registration for basketball and cheerleading takes place during the first weeks of October. Look for registration information in the weekly church bulletin during the month of September. Official CYO rosters are finalized prior to the start of basketball season and no players may be added until the following season.
Each year, our St. Pius X basketball players participate in the annual CYO Service Day typically held in the month of January. This provides them with an opportunity to help the less fortunate in our community.
Game schedules for the current season can be found on line at nhcyo.com
